Protect Your Shorelines and Estuaries     Ultra-X-Tex Fabric Fences Deployed in Mississippi & Louisiana

NEW VIDEO

Ultra-X-Tex Protecting New Orleans

Mayor of New Orleans Mitch Landrieu

interviewed recently as Ultra-X-Tex wire

backed fabric fence barriers are deployed

to protect shoreline

Ultra-X-Tex has made the news!  The city of

Ocean Springs, Mississippi is using Ultra-X-Tex

material to help protect their shoreline.

The Mayor and local government officials were

quick to recognize the advantages of using

Ultra-X-Tex over the traditional polypropylene

booms or containment (non-absorbing) booms.

Gulf waters flow freely through the material

but any oil (surface or subsurface) is quickly

absorbed by the Ultra-X-Tex. Click here to see

the local news coverage. Or, click here to

Sun Herald.

Kimball Environmental has SPILL RESPONSE PRODUCTS to Capture the Oil From the Recent Gulf Oil Spill

The demand for oil spill response products for the BP spill continues.  We wanted to let you know about some new products that we have developed to protect our Florida shorelines. We now have available two different booms made with Ultra-X-Tex Oil Absorbing Material

Ultra-Oil Booms & Ultra-X-Tex Filtration Fencing Fabric

We have two different Oil Booms now available.  One using Ultra-X-Tex in the blanket form (Part# 5200/5201/5204/5205) and another using it in the loose form (Part# 5214/5215).  Each has its advantages.

Here is a video showing the differences between Ultra-X-Tex and polypropylene sorbent. This video shows the unique benefits that Ultra-X-Tex offers over the traditional poly sorbents. This video very clearly shows why Ultra-X-Tex has superior abilities as an oil response product, as a stormwater product and as a help in cleaning up and protecting against the Gulf Oil Spill.

The biggest difference, as you will see in the video, is that Ultra-X-Tex absorbs both oil and water (hydrophilic), allowing the water to pass through it and retaining the oil. The polypropylene sorbents only absorb oil and repel water (hydrophobic). If you are cleaning up an oil spill on the floor that is only oil, the polypropylene sorbent works great. But add water (like the BP oil spill) and it still works... but not nearly as well as Ultra-X-Tex.

Ultra-X-Tex costs more but absorbs twice as much per ounce of fabric and has 4 times better break-through resistance. Ultra-X-Tex is also able to absorb and retain emulsified oil. This is a big benefit as much of the oil in the Gulf Oil Spill has been hit with dispersants which is used to emulsify the oil and drop it below the surface. Once it hits the beach, these emulsified oils will coagulate and create tar balls. Ultra-X-Tex can help eliminate this problem.

Each square foot of Ultra-X-Tex can absorb 1/3 of a gallon of oil. Please contact us with your needs. Thank you for your consideration.
